…and so end week 7

I feel more comfortable then ever working with animations in photoshop. The videos helped me greatly learning about the quick short cuts to have thing fade in. I used to just make multiple frames and adjust the opacity by hand which could take forever at times. Another useful tool to add to my collection I would say.

Boy did I fail hardcore. I was laying in bed with my laptop working on the quiz, I fall asleep and the time limit just ends on me when I’m awake. Looks like I have to work extra hard now to rebound from this conundrum.

I found the article for the search engines section to be very interesting. I thought a search engine was, well a search engine. I think it seems pretty crappy that when you change something in your page it can effect the way you are brought up in google.com. It seems to me that dmoz.org is what it should mimic after. I feel like I would get more of what I’m actually looking for.

Well until next time as I run off to work on my final project!

Week 5 comes to a rolling stop as we get ready to enter 6.

I found myself to enjoy the lynda practice assignments in the course, especially now, they really have been allowing me to grasp the programs I’m using and get quick results that actually look like something useful.

We worked on final banners this week. Talk about massive frustration. I could not come up with any solid ideas what so ever. Hopefully next week I can bring something better to the table.

Portfolio- I really want to do a portfolio web page. I started one before in digital design foundations and I loved the way it started to turn out. However we did not have enough time to finish it so I never went back to it. Portfolio are key for designers and a web based one is so much easier to access. I want to rebuild another from the ground up

Music Review – I would also like to try to come up with a website where I review new cd’s coming out (or even older ones). Give a overview of the cd, give a little snip of the songs to hear, and then give my view of what I liked and didn’t like about the cd.

Week 3 comes to a rolling stop with a nice blizzard to go along with.

This was my first time diving into fireworks and I have to say that it is a pretty awesome program to play around with. I never really knew what the actually program did, just always had it on my task bar. The grid lines make lining things up so easy and clean which I loved about the program.

What is up with the assets tab?

Wow was that a lagtastic journey. Every time I clicked it either A.) had to force quit out of dreamweaver or B.) wait for lagfest 2010 to be over. Maybe because I had a lot of programs running who knows but hopefully next time it will not be as big of a pain as it was prior to posting.

So week 2 is all gone.

This week really showed me how important it is to keep your files organized. I learned the hard way with last minute scrambling to make sure everything was in the right folders. I tell you one thing, using the target key (the name escapes my mind) in Dreamweaver to match up the link with the page saves so much time and effort. I remember using that a lot in Digital Design Foundation when creating a portfolio site for myself.

Its seems like we were learning more about hierarchical stuff then actually codding. I just wonder what the coming weeks will bring us. I’m all ready to learn some new stuff bring it on!

Week 1 here comes to a wrap.

I have to say this was a big refresher for me, a much needed one I must say. Going over the basics of HTML might seem boring at some times but let me tell you the sooner you learn the basics the better you will be off. Going over the “web” and actually what it is and means is very interesting. All of the networks and road ways seem intense when you think about how much there actually has to be.

Creating my first page assignment brought me back to my junior year of high school when I had my web page design class. All of that info I learned in that year has been stowed away for along time. Thanks to these assignments and videos (lynda.com is amazing by the way) helped dig that knowledge out, add to it, and allowed me to actually apply it to an assignment again.

I believe any web designer should have “The 8 commandments of web design” Hanging on their walls. I know I would if they made it in a poster.
